Q & A:
Should I Use "I" or "We" on My Website's About Page?
(and when I discuss my business)
Should I use "I" or "We" when writing my website's about page and when discussing my business?
You'll inevitably see successful entrepreneurs adopt either model; but, I do have a preference and want to offer that to you to give you a little food for thought.

It's my preference that if you are a company of one you use “I” and if you're a team you use “We.”
As you build and grow your coaching or consulting business, one of the most important things you can do is garner the “know, like, and trust factor” from the market.
Being trustworthy means that you are both honest and transparent. For me, transparency means that clients can experience your business from 3,000 feet up while they're looking at your website for the first time and also 3 inches away when they're receiving the service and they have a consistent experience for who you are and what your business stands for. For that reason, it's critical to me that I am honest and transparent right from the very beginning of that relationship.
I hear two reasons from solopreneurs concerned about presenting themselves as an “I.” Let's take a look at them.

Some entrepreneurs are a little nervous about presenting themselves as a solopreneur. They feel that appearing to be backed by a team offers more credibility in the marketplace.
I want to challenge that just a bit. I think long gone are the days where people are looking for cookie cutter, big box solutions. More and more, our clients are looking for personalized service and custom solutions. As a company of one, you can uniquely offer just that. Being a solopreneur is something to be proud of and not something you need to hide.
For many entrepreneurs, they are an “I” today but dream of someday being a “we.” With that in mind, they decide to present themselves as a “we” right from the very start.
I love that kind of thinking, and I hope you'll embrace that “think big” mentality all the way through your entrepreneurial journey.
But... I would encourage you to allow your business (and how you present it) to evolve with you. If today you are a team of one, you present yourself as an “I,” and as soon as you hire your first employee, you change it to “we.” The change will take no time to make, and in addition to ensuring that you’re honest and transparent throughout the entire client relationship, it will also allow your clients to watch your business grow- a process that they’ll enjoy almost as much as you do.
That is why for me, if you are a company of one you use “I” and if you're a team you use “we.”
I want to hear from you. Let me know below, do you use “I” or “we” when discussing your business? How did you make that choice?
